Sedona Strategies, founded in 2005, is a data & information fusion lab with the sole purpose of advancng fusion technologies into next generation multi-sensor platforms and to facilitate the transition of the resulting technologies into real-world optimized solutions.

Wireless sensor network design is a multi-disciplinary area with many challenging open problems in both theory and system design. Due to the delay and energy constraints along with the collaborative nature of both communication and processing inherent to these networks, the system must be designed via a cross-layer optimization methodology. It is important that data processing, network intelligence, and decision making operations be distributed among the network nodes for robustness and energy efficiency. This calls for collaboration between the nodes on data fusion, decision fusion, and efficient data aggregation and routing.

A promising feature of emerging wireless sensor networks is the opportunity for each node to process data "locally" and then communicate relevant information output, altogether in a manner that supports "globally" effective decision-making.
