Job Description
Our Client is a VC-funded pre-IPO startup company that has developed a revolutionary new microfabrication technology that delivers quantum leaps in functionality, performance and cost in select highgrowth applications.
The company’s unique technology, EFAB™, is the first to create truly three-dimensional complex microdevices, overcoming the limitations that stifled other silicon-based MEMS approaches for the last 3 decades. The company combined the proven batch-manufacturing practices of semiconductors with layered-deposition scheme of the rapid prototyping industry to create a simple and low-cost process for depositing many tens of metal layers with micron precision. The result is:
· Unprecedented geometrical flexibility, enabling truly 3-D and high-aspect-ratio structures
· A straightforward and intuitive design process based on third-party 3D CAD tools
· Single process suitable for a variety of devices in different markets
· Simple, low-cost and scalable volume manufacturing process.
The company has developed an innovative manufacturing company that is the first to fabricate dimensional complex microdevices.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Vice President Process Engineering will be responsible for leading the Technology Development Group in the development of new processes and process extensions for EFAB™. These include:
· New processes and manufacturing techniques for construction of MEMS components
· New material systems for structural and sacrificial metals
· Specification of process and manufacturing tools
· Integration of the new processes/materials/tools
· Delivering robust, well-characterized processes to manufacturing.
As such, he/she will be responsible for setting the strategic direction and implementing the tactical initiatives to develop the technologies and processes for the company going forward. This includes not only addressing the technologies for the businesses as we know it today, but also addressing
complementary technologies that will help expand the business.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
The successful candidate will have had at least 12 years of direct hands-on process development experience in research & development organizations in either MEMS and/or Semiconductors developing robust processes and moving them into production.
